Costs of a diploma

The amount of money spent on the education of a person to a certain diploma in government-funded regular education. This includes spending by the government and the private sector on education institutions for teaching, supplementary non-teaching activities (transport costs, student provisions, etc.) provided by these institutions, and other institutional costs, excl. spending on research and development (R&D). Study grants and loans are not included.

The results do not give a historical overview of cumulative spending in the whole education path. For each year they show what each step on the overall road to a diploma costs. This is calculated from government financing and the operation of the education system in the year concerned.

Figures for 2010 are provisional. The inflation is based on the prices level of 2000.
