Bankruptcies rising

In November 2011, 610 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt, 85 more than in October.

As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days the courts are in session, it may vary considerably from month to month. Therefore, the three-month moving average is a more reliable indicator.

The three-month moving average was 555 in November versus 519 in October. The number of bankruptcies has risen steadily in the past months, after it fluctuated around the 500 mark for over a year.
