Health care expenses

Health care expenses are converted to euros and adjusted for differences in purchasing power. Hence, the amounts per country indicate how much money would be required in the Netherlands to provide the same level of health care services as is provided in that particular country.

The Dutch results were adjusted to facilitate international comparison, because – in international statistics – health care is defined in a different manner. In an international context, health care is defined as the activities of curative care, rehabilitation, personal, nursing and medical care of chronically ill and disabled patients, auxiliary services  and medical goods, etc., prevention and health care system management.
