- Petrol and airline ticket prices contribute to inflation downtrend
- Eurozone inflation rate stable at 3.0 percent
October’s inflation rate dropped marginally to 2.6 percent. In September, consumer prices were on average 2.7 percent higher than one year previously, as the latest figures released by Statistics Netherlands show.
Petrol prices in particular had a downward effect on inflation. Airline ticket prices were 2 percent down in October 2011 from October 2010, which also contributed to the downtrend.
According to the European harmonised method (HICP), the inflation rate in the Netherlands dropped to 2.8 percent, i.e. 0.2 percentage points below the inflation level in September. The eurozone rate remains stable at 3.0 percent.
