Number of unemployed further up

Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 438 thousand in September, i.e. 17 thousand above the level in August. September was the third month in a row, in which unemployment increased. Overall, unemployment rose by 46 thousand in this period.

Unemployment rose among young people in the age category 15-24 and among 25 to 44 year-olds by 7 thousand. In the age category 45-64, unemployment rose marginally by 2 thousand. The unemployment increase was about the same for both genders.

The unemployment rate in the Dutch labour force was 5.6 percent in September. With 5.3 percent, the rate among men was lower than among women (5.9 percent).
