Consumers remain apprehensive
Dutch consumers remain apprehensive. The mood among them was virtually the same in July as in June. The consumer confidence indicator fell by 1 point to -12.

Consumers were slightly more negative about their financial situation in the past twelve months. They also thought it was a less favourable time to buy expensive items than in June. Their opinions on their own financial situation in the next twelve months, on the other hand, improved marginally. As a result, the component indicator willingness to buy dropped by 1 point to -9. Willingness to buy remains at a low level.
Consumers’ opinions on the economic climate were the same in July as in June. The component indicator economic climate remained stable at -16. Confidence in the economic situation in the past twelve months grew marginally, whereas confidence in the economic situation in the next twelve months deteriorated slightly. In June, confidence in the economic situation in the next twelve months had plummeted relative to the preceding month.
