Youth unemployment
The unemployed labour force among 15 to 25-year-olds as a percentage of the total labour force aged between 15 and 25. The international definition of labour force applies in this article.
The Dutch definition of labour force varies from the definition as used by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). As a result, size and composition of the labour force also vary. First of all, the Dutch definition classifies a person as unemployed, if they work or are prepared to work at least twelve hours a week, whereas the international definition lacks such a minimum restriction. Secondly, the unemployed labour force is defined differently. According to the ILO definition, a person has to be able to accept a job within a fortnight. According to the Dutch definition, a period of three months is observed in certain cases for a person to start working or begin to look actively for a job.
