New rules for care provided by childminders

Last year, new rules came into effect regarding care provided by childminders. The most important changes are:
• Higher demands and stricter control of registered childminders and childminder agencies. Since 2010, for example, registered childminders must have an official certificate for First Aid to Children.
• Introduction of a national register including all officially approved childminders and childminder agencies. Only care provided by persons and agencies included in the register is compensated.
• The maximum hourly rate the allowance is based upon is reduced to 5 euro.
