Unemployment virtually unchanged

Unemployment remains stable. Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 400 thousand in February. Unemployment figures have been in this order of magnitude for almost three months now. Male unemployment stood at 210 thousand, i.e. 4 thousand more than in January. Female unemployment dropped by 2 thousand to 190 thousand relative to the previous month.

The unemployment rate also remained unchanged, i.e. 5.1 percent of the Dutch labour force were unemployed. Unemployment among women was higher than among men. In February, 5.4 percent of the male labour force were unemployed versus 4.9 percent of the female labour force, but the gap has narrowed over the last few months.
