Unemployment slightly further down
In September 2010, seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 412 thousand, a decline by 2 thousand relative to August. Unemployment has dropped for the seventh months running.
In Septeber 2010, unemployment was still 7 thousand higher than in September 2009. Unemployment among young people fell considerably, whereas it rose dramatically in the age category 45-64. The number of unemployed people in the age category 25-44 hardly changed.
On average, 5.1 percent of the total Dutch labour force were unemployed in September. With 10.2 percent, the unemployment rate was highest in the age category 15-24.
