For this article, fertility of men and women of birth cohorts 1945-1949, 1950-1954, 1955-1959 and 1960-1964 was calculated based on data from the municipal population registration. This registration comprises various data on everyone registered in a municipality, including date of birth, and children’s dates of birth. On the basis of this information, figures on childlessness and age at the birth of the first child were calculated.
