Slump in orders new architectural projects in 2009
The total building sum of new orders for architectural firms in 2009 was more than 41 percent down on 2008. The value of new orders received in 2008 was already reduced by nearly 33 percent. The amount of new orders is an indication of the projected output in residential and non-residential building.
The number of new residential building orders dropped most dramatically. The building sum was more than 46 percent lower than in 2008. In the last quarter of 2009, the value reduced by no less than 52 percent.
The amount of new orders in the sector non-residential building, e.g. office buildings, shopping centres and hospitals also declined dramatically. The total building sum involved was more than 37 percent down on 2008.
