Volunteer work and informal care
Volunteer work is the work of people who, within a one year period, are doing unpaid work at least once within an organised setting such as a school, sports club or church.
Informal care is provided by people who, during a period of at least four weeks, offer unpaid help outside an organised setting to other people outside their own household, such as to people who are ill, neighbours, family, friends and acquaintances.
The percentages on volunteers and informal care providers presented here cannot be added without some caution. There is a certain overlap. One group of people is both volunteer and informal care provider.
