Green Key and eco labels

Overnight accommodations in the Netherlands can carry both labels. The acquisition process of the labels is a moot point.  Environmental organisations and experts contest its independence. Statistics Netherlands does not take part in the discussion on environmental awareness of commercial enterprises on the one hand and the value of the certificates on the other hand, but merely attempts to provide a picture of the number of certified enterprises and the capacity involved. Statistics Netherlands does not express its opinion on the value of the various labels, but provides an overview of all officially recognised labels and the accommodations that carry a certificate.
