Finding a new job quickly
To find out whether unemployed people find a new job quickly, the outflow from unemployment to into employment is established. These are transitions from the unemployed labour force to the employed labour force. To calculate this we look at whether people who are in the unemployed labour force are in the employed labour force three months later.
The employed labour force includes people with a paid job of at least twelve hours a week. The unemployed labour force includes people without work or with a job of less than twelve hours a week who are looking for a job of at least twelve hours a week and are available to start work.
