Before the start of the prosecution, the suspect is the person of whom there is reasonable suspicion that he or she has committed a criminal offence. Once prosecution has started, the suspect is the defendant against whom the prosecution is undertaken. A minor is a natural person who was not younger than 12 years and not older than 18 years at the time the crime was committed.
