On 30 November 2008, the (provisional) special reduced working hours scheme was introduced for companies which had suffered a turnover loss of at least 30 percent within a period of two months. Under this scheme, employees receive a benefit during the period they are unemployed. Registration was closed on 21 March 2009. A number of companies qualified for extension of the WTV scheme for a total period of 30 weeks. Companies eligible for WTV can subsequently apply for part-time WW. Almost the entire WTV budget was spent in 2009 (source: UWV).
