Decoupling refers to the situation, in which an economic activity increases, while environmental pressure increases less rapidly. Absolute decoupling refers to economic growth and simultaneous reduction of environmental pressure. Relative decoupling means that the pressure on the environment increases less rapidly than economic growth (in terms of volume).
