Consumers confidence unchanged
Consumer confidence remains unchanged in September. The indicator still stands at -17, after the sharp increase by 7 points in August. For the first time in two years, consumers’ opinions on the economic situation in the twelve months to come are positive. With respect to the other component indicators, pessimists still outnumber optimists.

Consumers think the economic climate improved marginally in September. Their opinions on the economic situation in the next twelve months improved 6 points and stands at 5. Opinions on the economic situation in the past twelve months were slightly more negative than in August.
The indicator willingness to buy dropped slightly. In comparison to August, Dutch consumers are somewhat more negative about the question whether it is the right time to purchase expensive items such as washing machines or furniture. Their opinions on their own financial situation in the twelve months to come also deteriorated slightly.
