Types of crime
The following types of crime are distinguished:
• Violent crimes, including violent sex crimes and violent crimes against property;
• Crimes against property: crimes against property not involving violence;
• Vandalism and public order, (including sexual crimes not involving violence, predominantly indecent exposure);
• Traffic offences;
• Other crimes (including drug-related crimes).
A person can be charged with more than one type of crime. The police often registers only the most serious offences. As a result the picture may become distorted. As yet, the scope of the distortion is not clear.
