Traditional stables, sheds and barns, have no provisions to reduce ammonia emissions. In low-emission housing, emission can be prevented by removing manure immediately with the aid of manure belt systems or manure scrapers, or by adapting the flooring or slurry pits, for example by introducing sloping floors or manure cooling, or by installing an air scrubber. Air scrubbers extract the air from the sheds and remove ammonia and fine particles from it.
