Netherlands largest manufacturer of bicycles in Europe

The overall value of bicycles manufactured in the European Union amounted to 1.9 billion in 2008. More than 30 percent were produced in the Netherlands, making it Europe’s largest bike manufacturer.

In 2008, the Netherlands manufactured 577 million worth of bicycles, an increase by more than 20 percent relative to the previous year. The Netherlands further consolidated its leading position as Europe’s largest bike manufacturer. Since 2004, the value of Dutch bicycle production in Europe has steadily grown from more than one fifth in 2004 to over 30 percent in 2008.
