Occupational mobility

Job mobility is defined as the number of people who change jobs within the span of one year. This means that persons employed in 2007 and 2008 are included in the survey. The survey calculates how many of these people had a different job in 2008 compared to 2007. 

Jobs are categorised on the basis of the Standard Classification of Occupations (SBC 1992). Jobs have a 5-digit code. Job mobility occurs, if a person’s code changes from one year to the next.

Job mobility only refers to people’s main occupational activity, i.e. the job with the highest number of weekly working hours. Only jobs covering 12 hours a week or more are taken into account.
