Modest turnover increase for business services

Business services had a higher turnover in the first quarter of 2009 than a year earlier. The value of turnover, however, did not grow as much as in the previous quarters. In the first quarter of 2009 turnover was almost 2 percent higher in business services. In the previous quarter turnover increased by almost 5 percent. Businesses in technical testing and analysis saw their turnover rise sharply in the first quarter of 2009. The economic services and engineering also contributed substantially to the growth of business services.

Various sectors in business services that face a loss of turnover due to the economic downturn. Turnover of temp agencies fell for the first time since the second quarter of 2004. The worsening economic situation meant a loss of many temporary jobs. This caused turnover to fall by more than 3 percent on one year before. Turnover in advertising fell by close to 7 percent because many companies cut their advertising budgets.
