The ageing process in the population and a tight labour market call for urgent action. The Social and Economic Council (SER) aims at a labour market participation rate of 80 percent for 20 to 65-year-olds in 2016 (gross labour participation). In its advice to the SER, the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB) has indicated how this target might be achieved. Separate target figures are set for men and women in the age category 20–55 and for 55 to 65-year-olds. Back to article
