Money transfers

The Survey Integration Ethnic Minorities (SIM) was conducted in 2006 by the Social and Cultural Planning Office (SCP) and Statistics Netherlands. Data have been collected nationwide by means of a representative sample survey among Turks, Moroccans, Surinamese, Antilleans and a native Dutch reference group. The native Dutch reference group did not answer any questions on money transfers.

Statistics Netherlands has not published data on money transfers before. The results are based on data provided by the self-reporting. Respondents may be reluctant to provide information on money transfers, as these data are considered rather sensitive or their recollection may not be accurate. Data can therefore deviate from data collected in other manners, e.g. based on the balance of payments.
