Wind energy
The capacity of wind turbines is a measure for the maximum electricity production per unit of time and is expressed in megawatts (1 MW = 1 million watt). The actual generation capacity of wind turbines may vary considerably and is determined by the amount of wind and the location of the turbine. On average, just under one quarter of the overall capacity of wind turbines in the Netherlands is exploited.
Information on the capacity of wind turbines by the end of 2008 is provided by Wind Service Holland (WSH)
