Statistics on foreign migration are based on data provided by the municipal population registers (GBA). Information on motives for migration of non-Dutch immigrants over the period up to and including 2003 are based upon the Central Register Foreigners (CRV) of the Netherlands Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) which is part of the Ministry of Justice. The CRV registers all non-Dutch nationals living in the Netherlands. Since 2004, data are derived from INDIS, the IND’s information system.
