Share of companies employing teleworkers has doubled within four years
By the end of 2007, nearly half of companies with a staff of ten or more persons employed teleworkers. Teleworking is most common among large companies. In nine out of ten large companies (250 or more employees) employees were allowed to work from home on a regular basis. In the category smaller companies (50 or fewer employees), 43 percent allowed teleworking.

Mainly in services
With 89 percent, the sector public utilities has proportionally the largest amount of teleworkers. This is partly due to the fact that there are many large companies in this sector. Teleworking is also relatively frequent in the sector business services and in financial institutions. In construction and the sector hotels and restaurants, teleworking is rare, because the nature of the activities requires that people are actually present.

Teleworking booming
In 2003, approximately one quarter of companies employed teleworkers. Since then, their share has increased continually. In 2007, it had doubled relative to 2003.
