Landscape elements are components of the Dutch landscape. In the analysis for this article semi-natural landscape elements were taken. These are elements that have nature as a secondary function, for example copses, wooded banks, hedges, verges, dikes, ditches and ditch banks. The analysis includes vegetation both in the ditches and on ditch banks. Between the period 2000-2003 and the period 2004-2007 the increase in coverage of tall forbs in ditches, wooded banks and dikes was significant. The increase on road verges was not significant.
