The classification of municipalities by degree of urbanisation is based on the situation on 1 January 2007 and the number of addresses per km². If the municipality has 1,500 or more addresses per km², it is classified as urban. A municipality is classified as rural, if there are fewer than 1,000 addresses per km². The category ‘moderately urbanised’ has not been taken into account. As a result, the total does not add up to 100 percent. Back to article
