Hotels and restaurants sector faced with poor summer season
The sector hotels and restaurants had to cope with a poor summer season. In July and August 2008, sales were 3.4 percent down on the same months last year. The sector has faced a long period of declining sales since the third quarter of 2007. A modest turnover growth of 0.3 percent was recorded due to an average price increase of 3.9 percent in the months of July and August. Hotels entirely accounted for the turnover growth. The other branches in the sector saw turnover decline relative to last year’s summer.
