Composition of workforce in the care sector

The following job categories are distinguished in the care sector:
1. Overhead positions: general and administrative positions, including management and general and administrative staff, and IT and training staff.

2: Technical, support and catering positions: jobs related to the building and grounds, including linen and laundry services, kitchen, horticulture, building maintenance.

3. Nursing and care positions: nursing, caring and social pedagogic positions. These include trainees and students.

4. Medical positions: medical and social scientific positions, including medical specialists, psychologists and psychiatrists. For general and specialist hospitals, independent consultants are also included in the medical staff.

5. Other positions involving patient treatment: positions supporting diagnostic and treatment techniques; e.g. paramedics, physiotherapists, laboratory and x-ray analysts.
