Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) may cause or aggravate health complaints, like respiratory problems and susceptibility to infections. Nitrogen dioxide is mainly seen as a substance signalling the overall degree of air pollution. The EU norm for the annual average concentration of nitrogen dioxide is 40 micrograms per cubic metre.
