Job growth slightly less vigorous
The number of jobs of employees was 157 thousand higher in the firth quarter of 2008 than in the same period one year previously. This 2.1 percent increase means a further slowdown of the growth rate. Employment has risen continuously since mid-2005.
The number of jobs of employees is subject to seasonal variation. After correction for seasonal effects, the number of jobs in the first quarter was 0.6 percent up on the fourth quarter of 2007.
In the firth quarter, the number of jobs in the Netherlands amounted to 7.8 million. This number includes both part-time and full-time jobs. In terms of full-time equivalents, the number of jobs of employees amounted to just over 5.9 million.
