Counselling

Under the legislation on work and income support (Wet werk en bijstand or WWB), municipal authorities are charged with getting people on income support back into the labour process. With the aid of personal reintegration schemes, these authorities try to get unemployed people into – or back into - paid employment as quickly as possible. The municipality has a variety of provisions at its disposal to achieve this, such as training, work experience places, wage cost subsidies for employers, and child care. A personal reintegration scheme may comprise one of more of these provisions.

In addition, the Centre for Work and Income (CWI) may also refer unemployed people to a registered job vacancy. In this case, a CWI advisor confers with a jobseeker and refers him or her to an employer who has registered a vacancy with the CWI. However, this form of counselling occurs relatively rarely among income support claimants.
