Measures concerning migration marriages

On 1 November 2004 measures came into effect under which the requirements became stricter for people who wanted to marry a person from outside the Netherlands.
The minimum age of a person marrying someone from outside the Netherlands was raised from 18 to 21 years, and the income requirement was raised from 100 to 120 percent of the minimum wage.
