Consumer confidence marginally down
Consumer confidence decreased somewhat in November. The consumer confidence indicator fell marginally to -2. In October, the index stood at -1. There were just about as many optimists as pessimists in November, which was also the case in October. Dutch consumers were slightly more negative about the economic climate. Willingness to buy, on the other hand, remained the same.
Structure consumer confidence
The slightly less positive attitude towards the economic climate in the Netherlands can be attributed to consumers’ opinions on the economic situation in the next twelve months as well as on the economic situation over the past twelve months.
Consumers’ willingness to buy remained unchanged in November. In September, willingness to buy deteriorated considerably, followed by a modest decrease in October. Consumers’ opinions about the financial situation of their own household remained the same. On the other hand, consumers think it is not such a good time to buy expensive goods.
