Benefits under the General Social Security Act (ABW) and from 2004 the Employment and Assistance Act (WWB).

The survey is restricted to people in the 15-64 age bracket. The institutional population (people living in homes and institutions) are excluded from the survey. In the case of (un)married couples both partners are counted separately.
