Lower output manufacturing industry
Average daily output of Dutch manufacturing industry in September was more than 2 percent up on one year previously, which is marginally below the level of August.
Production was higher in almost all sectors of manufacturing industry compared to September 2006. The most substantial increase (over 6 percent) was in chemicals. Food, drinks and tobacco also did well and performed above average.
For a more reliable picture of short-term production developments, it is best to look at the production figures after correction for seasonal effects. As monthly figures are often somewhat erratic, the two-monthly average compared with the previous two-monthly average is preferred.
After correction for working days and seasonal effects, manufacturing production was over 1 percent lower in the period August-September than in the period June-July.
