Again more containers transported on inland waterways

In 2006 Dutch container transport on inland waterways increased by 9 percent on 2005. In 2006 some 816 thousand twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) were shipped on the inland waterways in the Netherlands. Domestic container transport has been growing steadily for years.
The transported weight on Dutch inland waterways rose by 2.6 percent on 2005 and reached 97.5 million tonnes. This compensates for at least half of last year’s dip.
