Nearly 330 bankruptcies in May
In May, nearly 330 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) went bankrupt, a 16 percent reduction on one year previously.
As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days courts are in session, it may vary strongly from month to month. Therefore, the three-monthly moving average is a more reliable indicator.
In May, the three-monthly moving average stood at 296 bankruptcies, which is higher than in April. Over the past eighteen months, there has been a distinct downward trend in the number of bankruptcies. There were only a few months in which a reverse trend was observed.
