Cautious start biofuel sales
Last year, road traffic consumed 67 million litres of biofuels, corresponding to 0.4 percent of the total energy content of all petrol and diesel fuel sold on the Dutch market. Biofuels sold on the Dutch market are usually added to traditional mineral fuels.
In 2005, the share of biofuels was only 0.02 percent. The increase in 2006 is the result of a partial excise exemption for biofuels which was repealed in 2007. Instead, suppliers of transport fuels are obliged to sell 2 percent of biofuels. The target for 2010 is set at 5.75 percent.
