Number of bankruptcies considerably down
In April, 290 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) went bankrupt, a 21 percent reduction on April 2006.
As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days courts are in session, it may vary strongly from month to month. Therefore, the three-monthly moving average is a more reliable indicator.
In April, the three-monthly moving average stood at 276. This is considerably lower than in March, when the indicator stood at 307. The average has currently reached its lowest point in almost six years.
