Incandescent light bulbs account for less than 1 percent of total energy consumption
Incandescent light bulbs used in Dutch homes account for approximately 0.3 percent of total energy consumption. The generation of this energy requires another 0.5 percent. Altogether, the energy consumed by light bulbs remains under one percent. An average household uses one sixth of their total electricity consumption for lighting, three quarters of electricity used for lighting is consumed by light bulbs, according to EnergieNed. Annual electricity consumption of incandescent light bulbs corresponds to the amount of oil used for transport in three weeks or five days of natural gas consumption for heating.
