Factors determining the social position of an individual are average level of education of the parents (number of years spent in education) and occupation of the main breadwinner (scale running from1: unemployed to 7: higher employee). The social position of survey participants is derived from the level of education attained (number of years spent in education) and the occupational level of the first job (International Socio-economic Index). Social background is determined by calculating the average educational and occupational levels of the parents. The scores for educational and occupational level range from: 1 = high to 4 = low.
