Suburbanisation

The strongest wave of suburbanisation took place in the first decades after the Second World War. The reasons people moved out of the cities were the poor available housing and increased mobility. This made it possible for many people to leave the city without leaving behind the advantages the cities offered. The process of suburbanisation meant that cities lost many social and economic high achievers.
