Unsafety
Figures on feelings of unsafety are based on the State Safety Monitor 2006, a collective survey conducted by Statistics Netherlands, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the Ministry of Justice. The survey is conducted among persons aged 15 years and older and refers to households with at least one child under the age of 15.
Persons living in homes and institutions are excluded. The percentages presented are based on a sample survey and therefore subject to a margin of error.
The Safety Monitor comprises the questions: ‘Do you occasionally feel unsafe?’ and ‘Do you occasionally forbid your children to go to certain places, because you consider them unsafe?’
The response categories are:
- yes, frequently
- yes, sometimes
- no
- not applicable
