Number of bankruptcies falls sharply
In September this year 310 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) went bankrupt. This is 31 percent fewer than in September 2005. In August, the number of bankruptcies was 350, 12 percent down on August 2005.
As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month also depends on the number of days courts are in session, it may vary strongly from month to month. Therefore, the three-month average is a more reliable indicator. In September, it stood at 328, i.e.12 down on August. The steep downward trend in bankruptcies thus continues. The number of bankruptcies has now reached its lowest point since July 2002.
