Adoption of foreign children

Figures on adoption of children from foreign countries are based on various sources. For the period up to and including 1994, the totals of non-stepparent adoptions are supplied by the courts. Figures referring to the period 1995–2005 are based on information provided by the courts and data about children adopted under the The Hague Adoption Treaty (1998) provided by the Ministry of Justice.
